The National Bird of China

When we finally landed at the Beijing airport after an 11 hour flight from Vancouver, the first
noticable thing about the country was its smog. We were met at the airport by our National Guide, Richard who was to be with us for the next 16 days of our journey. It wasn't long before Richard's sense of humour shone through, and we knew we were in good hands. After what seemed hours we finally reached the city of Beijing and it was where I was in awe for the first time and certainly not the last. People, cars, bicycles, mega apartment blocks and building cranes. Richard told us they now call it the "National Bird of China." As we travelled through China, we knew what he meant. Posted by Picasa
