On the road to Dazu

Our bus took us through the countryside, which was rather hilly, lots of water for ponds, and
terraced farming. We stopped at a farming
commune where 25 families lived. People in this area make daggers and knives. They also raise
fish (carp). It is a very primitive area, most use
their hands to work the land. They are also
growing trees for the condos that are being
built in the cities. You can't see too many old trees in China, because Chairman Mao ordered
all trees to be cut down to fuel the steel mills.
His goal was to overtake the U.S. and Britain. Posted by Picasa
