Newly engaged couples in Chna come to the Great Wall, buy an lock and fasten it to a chain on the Wall and throw away the key.
This will ensure that there marriage will be long and happy.
In old China there was no divorce, except that a man could divorce his wife by writing a paper. In the New China it is the opposite. Women out number men, and so women no longer walk behind men. China's liberal divorce laws have given women a chance to break free of unhappy marriages or marriages that were arranged by their families. It has led to a rising divorce rate. The social landscape is changing in China, there are fewer certainties now.
