Changling - Emperor Yongle's Tomb

This is the largest of 13 Ming Tombs. It was built from 1409-1427. The 3rd Ming Emperor Zhu Di, whose reign title was Yongle, was buried here together with his wife, Empress Xu.
According to historical records, there were 16 imperial concubines buried alive in the east and west pits as funeral objects for the Emperor. Posted by Picasa
