Slope Protection

This was a common sight along the Yangtze. Since 2003, 1,500 cities, towns and villages have disappeared beneath the Yangtze River and 1.5 million people have been re-located. You see ongoing construction of dykes, bridges and apartment buildings. The goal is to raise the level of the Yangtze 175 meters by 2013. They are ahead of schedule and have only 20 meters left to go.
